(aka Goldies)

Golden Kids Inc. Early Learning Centre has played an important role in providing high quality early childhood care and education for Golden Bay families since 1989.

At Golden Kids, we pride ourselves on providing an enriched educational environment where every child’s preschool learning is fostered and extended. Our centre’s programme has a strong emphasis on fun, creativity, numeracy, literacy and a sense of respect and value for people, places and things.

We are conveniently situated in the Takaka Township and cater for children throughout the Golden Bay district.

Many of our Golden Kids whānau strive to live sustainably, are on environmental boards and choose to live in Golden Bay for its alternative natural and environmentally friendly way of life. These are the areas of interest and funds of knowledge our tamariki bring with them everyday to the centre.

The values of Manaakitanga (being a caring friend), pono (what is just and fair), whanaungatanga (sense of family) and Kaitiakitanga (care of Papatῡānuku/Mother Earth) are our priorities of learning which come from our own centre whānau as well as Mana Whenua ki Mohua.

Our outdoor programme is a popular part of what we do here. This sees regular adventures to land near our beautiful Takaka Awa where the tamariki roll down the hills, have grass fights, skids on bikes and just enjoy the space and time of being in nature in Aotearoa.  Another favourite part of this programme is fire learning where we make hot chocolates and damper over our large fire pit during the cooler months.

Golden Kids Inc. Early Learning Centre is governed by a Board of Trustees, made up from parent representatives (elected every year), the Centre Manager and the Centre Administrator. Our centre is an Incorporated Society with Inland Revenue charitable status.
